Can I use Outlook to view my email?

Yes! (Though you might also check out Mozilla's Thunderbird, which is a powerful free email program from the folks who brought us Firefox.)

You will need four pieces of information to configure your email software:

  1. Incoming (POP) mail server
If your site is hosted with us, then the server name is based on your site's domain name. If your domain name was www.yoursite.com then your incoming mail server will be mail.yoursite.com which is where your mail will be downloaded from.
  2. outgoing (SMTP) mail server
The SMTP server setting must be configured correctly or outgoing mail will not be sent. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will sometimes require you to use their outgoing mail server, rather than your own, in an attempt to control spam. If your ISP is Charter Communications, you will probably need to either smtp.charter.net or smtp. If you are not required to use your ISP's SMTP server you can use the same server for outgoing that you do for incoming.
  3. Login Name
When you create an email address through your site's cPanel, the login for that account will be the email address itself. An alternative method is to replace the @ with a + but some webmail applications require the full email address be used.
  4. Password
The password will be whatever you set it to be when you create the address, or change it to after it's creation. If we set up an email account for you, the login information will have been forwarded to you.
