If you use email (or chat rooms, forums, etc.) to keep in touch with people, you should watch for Google Wave. If it ends up being able to deliver on everything they’ve been working on, it will revolutionize the way we communicate. It combines the best features of email and social networking and pulls it all together into one application. The best part (in my opinion) is that they also intend for it to be open-source, and are providing APIs for developers.
One thing I didn’t see in any of the videos I’ve watched (though I may have missed it because I tended to skim) was what the possible spam implications were. Will this finally create a spam-free way of communication? Will it open the door to even more intrusive spamming? I believe that will end up being one of the keys to it’s success or failure.
